Services - Palm District Cooling

Background
Established in 2004, Palm District Cooling (PDC) is the region’s leading supplier of chilled water to multiple buildings for air conditioning and other uses. PDC cools more commercial and residential properties than any other district cooling provider. The concept of district cooling is surging in popularity as higher demand is placed on natural resources.

What We Do
PDC is a complete turnkey operation – building and operating strategically placed district cooling plant and networks. End-users benefit from PDC’s cost-efficient and environmentally friendly air conditioning solutions, while our back-up plants are just one example of how we deliver total reliability to developers.

User-friendly packages for developers and tenants include the provision of bulk metering and sub metering, whereby meters are supplied to each apartment and contracts arranged with individual tenants.

When it is appropriate, PDC keeps costs to a minimum by working in association with our sister company, Palm Water.

Why Palm District Cooling?
Wherever water resources are scarce and expensive, PDC utilizes Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE). Sewage effluent supplied by PW is polished using dedicated polishing plants, and the resulting water is used in the cooling process. By reducing the energy required to create water, and with other by-products used for irrigation, PDC and PW’s partnership is highly cost-effective and environmentally responsible.

With a proven track record, PDC’s services are in demand throughout the Gulf region. Future business partnerships are also being explored further afield, in the Middle East, India and Asia.

PDC is expected to become the world’s largest district cooling provider through the provision of services to a number of prestigious projects, such as The Palm, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Discovery Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall etc, and extending to other developers and end users

District cooling systems distribute chilled water to multiple buildings for air conditioning. The cooling (actually heat rejection) is usually provided from a dedicated cooling plant. District Cooling is a reliable and convenient source of cooling energy

  • Saving in electrical utility connection costs due to reduced electrical load of the building.
  • Monthly consumption cost is confined to consumption.
  • Noise, vibration and structure born sounds are removed.
  • Environmentally friendly.
