What we do
As part of the Palm Utilities group, PW provides services to many of Dubai’s landmark developments including Palm Jumeirah, World Project and Jumeirah Golf Estates. Working in association with Palm District Cooling (PDC), we also provide environmentally friendly water solutions for cooling requirements. By using MBR technology, treated sewage effluent is provided for irrigation purposes, and as polished water for district cooling plants.
While PW is involved in some of the UAE’s most prestigious projects, we are also examining potential new markets in collaboration with PDC. These include Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and India. JAFZA’s capability to construct international free zones offers scope for business alliances in various other locations.
PW tends to finance its own projects, with repayment coming in the form of tariffs to developers for the supply of services such as: seawater desalination; commercial, municipal or industrial water treatment plants; wastewater treatment and recycling plants; potable water and treated wastewater distribution networks; wastewater collection networks; and other related businesses.
Why Palm Water?
The natural synergy between PW and PDC provides significant savings on power consumption and resource wastage for developers and governments. Whilst being highly cost-efficient, developers also obtain treated sewage for irrigation purposes, often reducing the cost of potable water by up to 50 per cent.
As Palm Utilities targets future local and regional expansion as a one-stop service provider, PW will continue to sustain its growth, capable of handling major new property developments that require cutting-edge technology platforms.
Services
Desalination
As water is an extremely valuable commodity in the Middle East, desalination plays a major role in the supply of drinking and irrigation water. PW uses reverse osmosis to convert sea water to fresh potable water. As a result of using this process, PW’s desalination plants use less energy and do not need to be constructed near to a power plant.
Sewage Treatment
Over the last decade, Membrane BioReactor (MBR) technology has become the preferred process for handling waste water. The majority of PW’s temporary plants and all permanent plants feature MBR technology, which creates a smaller footprint than conventional plants and results in better quality treated effluent that can then be recycled to provide high quality irrigation water.
Polished Water
Using a form of Reverse Osmosis, with far less pressure than that used to desalinate sea water, tertiary sewage effluent (TSE) is polished and recycled for other applications, including cooling solutions for sister company, Palm District Cooling.
Customer Service
PW provides state-of-art customer services including metering, billing and customer call center.
